I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Julie Garnier, and she informed me on her life and the true meaning of veterinarian medicine. Dr. Garnier graduated from Tuskegee University, and majored in Vet. Med. At the age of five, she knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian. She traveled the world, practicing on animals in need. She has been to Europe and Africa. She works for the, FDA, USDA and the NIH hospital/building. Dr. Garnier, told me that you can do so much with a Biology degree and expand your knowledge and experiences, through going into other fields. Dr. Garnier, told me that you can still be a vet regardless of issues whether personal or etc. She told me that Veterinarians or anybody who pursues a career in Science, has a higher suicide rate (according to the CDC). She told me I need to balance my life and make sure I take proper breaks and set aside my career for some personal/fun time. A degree in science goes a long way, and because of everything science requires it is known as a very competitive field to pursue. Veterinarian medicine is the wrong profession for the depressed.
